Bathroom Adaptation

A multitude of choices are available to adapt a bathroom to your accessibility needs. Shower without sill, grab bars, wall-mounted washbasin, etc.

En Mouvement replaces the existing baths by installing a shower at the same level as the floor, allowing you to enter with a wheelchair directly in the shower. It will also be possible to reconfigure the complete layout of the bathroom, sometimes changing the position of the door, toilet or sink to give a new fluidity to the whole.

The Société d’Habitation du Québec offers grants to help you adapt your bathroom. A call to your CLSC will guide you on this subject or by going on the website of the SHQ.

We will work with your occupational therapist or your municipality’s representative to complete the entire project.

Whether you decide to get a grant or not, our experts will be able to assist you in this project.

It is sometimes essential to redesign the bathroom so that people with reduced mobility or in wheelchairs can access it more easily. This involves the installation of a shower without threshold, a wall-mounted sink, a grab bar or even more important work such as moving a door.

Why should the bathroom be rehabilitated?

Access to bathtubs, sill showers and sinks is difficult and dangerous, if not impossible for people with reduced mobility or in wheelchairs. Also, some individuals need support to be able to stand during the shower. It is therefore essential to adapt the bathroom so that they can more easily and securely access these amenities. It can also give them more autonomy in their lives.
